Study Skills
The term ‘study skills’ refers to the various methods which students can use to make the task of studying easier as well as to retain the information they study for longer lengths of time. Developing study skills is crucial for students these days as curriculums become more intense and exams more competitive.
By teaching study skills teachers can curb the pressure that students feel during examinations. In Western countries, teachers actually learn about such methods of learning in special study skills class. Good study skills for students are listed and taught to teachers who must then impart these tips to their students. Learning about these and how to teach these to their students makes the task of teaching and learning much less arduous. Here are a few examples of basic study skills that are included in most lesson plans for study skills.
* Developing the will to remember
Teachers are taught how to make their students want to remember what they learn about. They must find ways to captivate their students by presenting facts and information in a manner that they relate to.
* Organizing and selecting the manner of teaching
Often the way in which the course matter is presented makes a big difference to the way in which students grasp it. It is therefore up to teachers to ensure that the course material is presented in such a way that it does not seem like too much at one time. Grouping information together may also facilitate learning.
